The registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, Kingsley Igwe, has said that studies shows that full adoption of the National Single Window (NSW) could reduce logistic costs in Nigeria by up to 25 per cent to 30 per cent.
Igwe stated this on Thursday in Lagos during his keynote address at the NSW Stakeholders Engagement Forum jointly organised by the NSW Secretariat and the Nigeria Customs Service.
Igwe stressed that moving forward, the NSW will be a game-changer in the way businesses are conducted in Nigeria, adding that the country is at a critical juncture in its economic journey.
He lamented that Nigeria, as Africa’s largest economy, is strategically positioned as the gateway to West and Central Africa, yet “Our business, whether large, multinational, small-scale importers, or local manufacturers, continue to struggle under the heavy burden of high logistic costs, fragmented processes, duplication of documentation, and delays in cargo clearance.”
