FG Launches Digital System to Fast-track Agro Delivery

The Federal Government has launched an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) to boost agricultural service delivery, strengthen transparency, and preserve institutional memory.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, said the EDMS was developed under the broader Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25) and is designed to digitise records, automate workflows, and drastically reduce reliance on paper-based processes.

Kyari explained that the system aligns with the Federal Government’s goal of achieving 80 per cent digitalisation of government operations by the end of 2025 and a fully paperless civil service by 2030.

He added that the initiative would fundamentally transform how records are created, processed, stored, accessed, and secured within the Ministry.

The Minister emphasised that the EDMS would significantly reduce dependence on paper-based processes, eliminate delays associated with manual file movement, enhance collaboration across departments, improve document traceability, and strengthen audit and security controls.

According to him, these improvements are critical to informed decision-making, policy continuity, and effective governance.
