The Federal Government is seeking to turn Nigeria’s annual festive-season boom into a structured economic engine capable of unlocking an estimated $100 billion opportunity in tourism and the creative industry and deepening the sector’s contribution to its $1 trillion economy.
Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy Minister Hannatu Musawa, who made this known yesterday, said the $100 billion, when attained, would be the sector’s contribution to the Bola Tinubu administration’s target of $1 trillion economy by 2030.
Musawa added that the September-to-December period, which sees increased travel, entertainment, hospitality, and consumer spending across the country, could become a powerful driver of jobs, investment and local economic growth if deliberately organised and commercialised.
She spoke at the Ember to Remember National Stakeholders’ Conference and the launch of Nigeria’s coordinated September -to-December 100-Day calendar in Lagos.
The event was held in partnership with the ministry and MyCity App. The minister called for stronger collaboration between government and businesses to transform Nigeria’s cultural and creative assets into sustainable economic value.
