NSIA Launches $300m Distributed Energy Fund

The Africa Social Impact Summit has highlighted the commercial launch of the $300m Nigeria Distributed Renewable Energy Fund by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Africa50, and Sustainable Energy for All as a major development financing milestone for expanding access to reliable energy in Nigeria.

The launch reinforces the central message of the inaugural ASIS Global Action Forum, held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly: Africa’s development priorities require investments and practical solutions that can deliver results at scale.

Convened by Sterling One Foundation in partnership with the NSIA, the United Nations Population Fund, RALLY, and other partners, the ASIS Global Action Forum brought together leaders from government, business, finance, philanthropy, development institutions, and civil society to explore innovative approaches to financing development and accelerating progress across the continent.

Co-managed by NSIA and Africa50, with SEforALL providing energy-access leadership, the DRE Fund aims to mobilise investment for distributed renewable energy solutions that can expand electricity access for underserved populations while supporting Nigeria’s broader development ambitions.
