‘FG Working on Industrial Relations Policy’

The Federal Government is working on the development of a national policy on industrial relations to address challenges in the industrial space in collaboration with organised labour, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammadu Dingyadi, has said.

Represented by Falonipe Amos at the 29th Annual National Management/Industrial Relations Seminar in Asaba, Delta State capital, Dinyadi said the Federal Government has a new document on sectoral guidelines in critical sectors of the economy to deal with issues of outsourcing or casualisation.

No fewer than 28 companies have shut down this year in the chemical and non-metallic sector of the economy, National President, Chemical and Non-Metallic Products Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (CANMPSSAN), Segun David, has said.

In an address Seminar with: “In-depth Analysis of Interwoven Parameters of Workers Welfare, Productivity, Growth and Government Policies in the Chemical Sector” as theme, David lamented that monetary policies was forcing many companies to leave the country, leading to job losses.

He said the chemical and non-metallic sector has been worse hit due to the fact that its inputs for factories in the sector are mainly imported.
