Nigeria’s Gas Production Capacity to Hit 4 Billion Cubic Feet Per Day –FG

The federal government says the current gas production in Nigeria is expected to increase by almost 4 billion cubic feet per day by 2030, according to the Decade of Gas plans.

Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, who disclosed this during the ongoing 13th edition of the Practical Nigerian Content Forum organised by the Nigerian Content Development Board (NCDMB) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, explained that at that point, the country would have accomplished 25 per cent of the goal in boosting gas production capacity.

Ekpo also stated that the federal government has so far invested $450m in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), adding that gas will be the mainstay of Nigeria’s energy shift, which is why the government is giving local businesses a chance to engage in gas distribution, processing, and power generation.

He stated that the probable replacement for petrol has also been determined to be natural gas in the form of CNG, explaining that to encourage other solutions and alternatives to the massive payout from the nation, President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration speech prohibited further fuel subsidy payments.
