Today’s session closed positive, with the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) edging up by 0.01%, as price appreciation in GTCO (+0.54%), WAPCO (+0.54%), and INTBREW (+2.33%) offset declines in BUACEMENT (-0.96%), ZENITHBANK (-0.86%), and UBA (-0.68%).

As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return expanded to 17.55%, up from 16.58% recorded in the previous week, reflecting sustained market resilience amid mixed sectoral performance.

Analysis of today’s market activity revealed a decline in trade turnover compared to the previous session, with transaction volume and value down 1.02% and 62.46%, respectively.

Investors exchanged a total of 923.86mn units valued at N11.0bn across 25,680 deals. JAPAULGOLD (-9.70%) topped the volume chart with 147.08mn units traded, while GTCO (+0.54%) led the value chart with transactions worth N1.54bn.

Market breadth closed positive with a 1.44-to-1 ratio, as advancers outnumbered decliners. JOHNHOLT (+10.0%) led the thirty-six (36) gainers, while ELLAHLAKES (-9.98%) topped the list of twenty-seven (27) laggards and the rest of stocks were unchanged.

Similarly, despite sell-offs in the first two trading sessions of the week, the Nigerian equities market extended its bullish momentum, closing positive for the sixth consecutive week. The NGX All-Share Index (ASI) advanced 0.83% w/w to settle at 120,989.66 points.

Buying interest in BUAFOODS (+2.23% w/w), TRANSCORP (+2.28% w/w), and WAPCO (+2.89% w/w) outweighed declines in DANGCEM (-3.41% w/w), BUACEMENT (-3.04% w/w), and ZENITHBANK (-0.86% w/w). As a result, the market capitalisation rose by N377.26mn w/w, closing at N76.34trn, reflecting sustained investor interest in select bellwether stocks despite intermittent profit-taking.

NASD Summary

The NASD OTC Securities Index (NSI) advanced by 0.20% today, while on a weekly basis, it recorded a 1.79% w/w gain to close at 3,398.6 points. Similarly, market capitalisation rose by the same margin, settling at N1.99trn.

Trading activity was mixed, as volume traded rose by 48.65% to 632,624 units, while the total transaction value declined by 21.06% to N18.06mn. A total of 25 deals were executed during the session.
