EQUITIES
Trading in the domestic bourse kicked off the week on a positive note as buying interest in BUAFOODS (+5.1%), MTNN (+7.1%), and GUINNESS (+4.9%) drove the All-Share Index higher by 1.0% to close at 103,149.35 points. Thus, the month-to-date and Year-to-Date returns printed +5.8% and +38.0%, respectively.
The total volume traded increased by 40.3% to 617.86 million units, valued at NGN15.03 billion, and exchanged in 13,499 deals. UNIVINSURE was the most traded stock by volume at 71.51 million units, while GTCO was the most traded stock by value at NGN3.11 billion.
On Sectors, the Insurance (+2.5%) and Consumer Goods (+1.8%) indices gained, while the Banking (-0.4%) and Oil & Gas (-0.4%) indices posted losses. The Industrial Goods index closed flat.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive (1.8x), as 38 tickers gained relative to 21 losers. PRESTIGE (+10.0%) and MECURE (+10.0%) topped the gainers’ list, while PZ (-10.0%) and VITAFOAM (-9.6%) recorded the most significant losses of the day.
CURRENCY
The NFEM (Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market) rate appreciated by 0.3% to NGN1,544.33/USD.
MONEY MARKET & FIXED INCOME
The overnight lending rate expanded 4bps to 27.1% in the absence of any significant funding pressure in the system.
The NTB secondary market traded on a calm note, albeit with a bullish undertone, as the average yield declined by 2bps to 25.5%. Across the curve, the average yield declined at the short (-11bps) and mid (-5bps) segments, following demand for the 66DTM (-39bps) and 87DTM (-6bps) bills, respectively. Meanwhile, the average yield expanded at the long (+4bps) end due to profit-taking activities on the 255DTM (+112bps) bill. Similarly, the average yield declined by 6bps to 27.1% in the OMO segment.
Proceedings in the FGN bond secondary market were quiet, with a bearish sentiment as the average yield slightly increased by 1bp to 19.4%. Across the benchmark curve, the average yield expanded at the short (+2bps) end due to a sell-off on the JAN-2026 (+6bps) bond but was unchanged at the mid and long segments.
