Bulls Resurface as ASI Up 0.4%

EQUITIES

Bullish sentiments resurfaced in the domestic equities market, as the demand for ARADEL (+7.0%), DANGCEM (+1.0%) and FIRSTHOLDCO (+5.0%) drove the All-Share Index higher by 0.4% to 142,036.23 points. Thus, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns settled at +0.1% and +38.0%, respectively.

The total volume of trades advanced by 142.1% to 1.00 billion units, valued at NGN24.66 billion, and exchanged in 23,281 deals. ABBEYBDS was the most traded stock by volume at 410.07 million units, while ARADEL was the most traded stock by value at NGN6.88 billion.

Sectoral performance was mixed as the Oil &Gas (+2.6%), Consumer Goods (+1.0%), and Industrial Goods (+0.1%) Indices advanced, while the Insurance (-1.6%) and Banking (-0.2%) indices declined.

As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was negative (0.8x), as 25 tickers gained relative to 31 losers. CHELLARAM (+9.8%) and AUSTINLAZ (+9.7%) led the gainers, while GUINEAINS (-9.7%) and CORNERST (-8.7%) led the laggards.

CURRENCY

The official FX rate was depreciated by 1.0% to NGN1,498.50/USD.

MONEY MARKET & FIXED INCOME

The overnight lending rate contracted by 5bps to 26.9% in the absence of any significant inflows into the system.

The Treasury bills secondary market traded with bullish sentiments as the average yield contracted by 3bps to 18.4%. Across the curve, the average yield expanded at the short (+1bp) and mid (+2bps) segments due to selloff of the 78DTM (+14bps) and 176DTM (+18bps) bills, respectively, but contracted at the long (-9bps) end following the demand for the 183DTM (+102bps) bill. Similarly, the average yield contracted by 14bps to 22.2% in the OMO segment.

The FGN bond secondary market was bullish as the average yield contracted by 2bps to 16.5%. Across the benchmark curve, the average yield contracted at the short (-5bps) end following the demand for the JAN 2026 (-37bps) bond but remained unchanged at the mid and long segments.
