Digital Asset Market to Boost Economy

In a bold step toward modernising Nigeria’s financial system, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially unveiled the digital asset markets initiative.

The move aims to solve longstanding challenges around access to capital, poor investment regulation, and limited financial inclusion in the country.

At a special strategy session held in Lagos, leading financial experts and regulators gathered to introduce a new era in Nigerian finance.

The event was hosted by SEC in partnership with the Global Investment Advisory Community, a network of top investment banks, asset managers, and financial institutions.

Speaking at the event, global investment advisor and founder of the advisory community, Nicky Okoye, described the digital asset market as a game-changer.

“For the first time in our history, Nigerians can trade digital assets with legal backing. This is not just about cryptocurrencies, it’s about giving our people real ownership in a new financial future,” he said.

“These assets will be tied to physical investments, which makes our model less risky and more sustainable.”
