FG Launches NIN Authentication, Approves Use Across MDAs

The Federal Government has approved the launch of the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC) National Identification Number Authentication (NINAuth), for secure and seamless identity verification.

Similarly, President Bola Tinubu, has directed the use of NIN authentication for verification across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

According to a statement issued by NIMC spokesperson, Kayode Adegoke on Tuesday, the move is in line with the Commission’s mandate of regulating a reliable national digital identity for citizens and legal residents.

With NINAuth, individuals can securely verify their identity and access key government services, including sim registration and replacement, immigration applications and passport processing, as well as tax filings and financial transactions.

The service will also facilitate access to government intervention programs in various MDAs and driver’s license renewals and other regulatory processes.

Key features of NINAuth include protection of personal data from unauthorised access, empowering of individuals with the freedom to manage their data-sharing preferences and provision of a secure single sign-on solution for convenient access to services.
