The Federal Government has unveiled an Advanced Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system for managing the national power grid.
According to the government, this new technology promises to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the country’s power supply, positioning Nigeria for a more stable energy future.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, in his speech delivered by the acting Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, Emmanuel Nosike, on Wednesday at the unveiling of the SCADA system in Abuja, emphasised the new system’s impact.
“This initiative represents not just a technological upgrade; it also symbolises our government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of power supply across the nation,” Adelabu stated.
The SCADA system provides real-time monitoring and control of the national grid, enabling operators to detect faults, manage loads more efficiently, and respond promptly to outages. “We are ushering in a new era in the management and operation of the national grid,” Adelabu noted.
