Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Omosehin, has called for a stronger alliance with the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) to elevate the insurance sector to new heights.
Speaking at the recent investiture ceremony of Yetunde Ilori, the 52nd President of CIIN, Omosehin expressed optimism in her leadership and the potential for transformative growth within the industry.
Omosehin lauded the outgoing President, Mr. Edwin Igbiti, and the Governing Council members for their dedication to advancing insurance education and professionalism.
He emphasised the critical role that leadership plays, especially in navigating the current economic challenges and opportunities.
He noted that Mrs. Ilori, with her extensive experience, notably as the former Director General of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), is well-positioned to lead CIIN in fostering a culture of excellence, growth, and innovation.
Reaffirming NAICOM’s commitment, Omosehin assured that the insurance industry under his stewardship would align with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and the ambitious goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
He stressed the importance of collaboration between NAICOM and CIIN in developing skilled professionals essential for this economic transformation.
Omosehin also highlighted the need for a positive public perception of the insurance profession, calling for deliberate efforts to communicate the industry’s narratives effectively.
