Director-General, Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Moses Umoru, has said Nigeria represents about 20 per cent of France’s trade with sub-Saharan Africa.
He said the country stands as France’s primary trading partner in the region and ranks fourth overall in Africa, following Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
Speaking to The Nation ahead the 2024 French Week scheduled for between November 8 and 15 in Lagos, Umoru highlighted France’s substantial business presence in the country with over 100 companies providing more than 10,000 direct jobs.
He emphasised France’s strategic role in Nigeria’s development through ongoing support from the French Development Agencies, which fund sustainable projects, and through Business France’s efforts to facilitate French companies’ entry into the Nigerian market across various sectors.
He added that the 2024 French Week, organised by the FNCCI under the auspices of the French Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria, will spotlight the achievements of French-Nigerian business partnerships.
A key feature will be a high-level business forum on “Enhancing France-Nigeria Relations Through Sustainable Investments and Partnerships.”
