Nigeria, Brazil to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, has stated that the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change, COP 30, organised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), would further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Brazil, especially on the Paris Agreement.

Lawal made the assertion during the visit of Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Garcete, and his entourage to the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja.

“Nigeria and Brazil had enjoyed bilateral cooperation in the area of trade, culture and tourism, economic growth and development since Nigeria’s Independence. We also believe that the country is known for its rich forest cover, rivers and unique flora and fauna”

He further assured the Ambassador that the relationship of both countries would further grow as more areas of collaboration would be harnessed during the COP30 in the areas of climate change adaptation, mitigation, ecosystems, biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

Commending the Brazilian government for the resumption of direct flight to Nigeria, as this will further boost economic growth and development between the two Countries, he thanked them for securing the hosting rights of COP30, G20 Summit.
