The Federal Government has sought international collaboration in the areas of research and technology for the promotion of genetic content of agricultural commodity varieties.
Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security Abdullahi Sabi stated this yesterday in Abuja at the Annual General Meeting and Conference of Nigerian Women for Agricultural Progressives and Development Initiative (NWAPDI).
Represented by the Director of Planning and Policy Coordinator, Ibrahim Tanimu, he said, “As such, the step for advancing science and technology in the country is to strengthen research collaborations among national and international institutions.
“It is also to infuse potent and proven traditional and modern techniques, improve the genetic content of agricultural commodity varieties, encourage public-private partnership for adaptive research and enhance the commercialization process of potent research findings.”
NWAPDI Founder and National Coordinator Omolara Svensson said in the last year, the organisation has empowered women farmers and youths across the country.
