The National Cash Transfer Office under the National Social Investment Agency (NSIPA) released N24.7 billion for disbursement to 991,261 households in the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory, the agency said in Abuja yesterday.
NSIPA national coordinator and chief executive officer, Badamasi Lawal, said in a statement that N3.8 billion was released to 153,035 household beneficiaries in August 2024 while N20.9 billion was paid to 838,223 household beneficiaries in September across the 36 states and FCT.
Lawal said each beneficiary received N25,000 through their financial service providers. He added that the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer was aimed at cushioning the economic hardship of beneficiaries who are mostly poor and vulnerable Nigerian households.
“The economic benefits include but not limited to immediate poverty reduction, improve household finance and savings ability of beneficiaries. The health benefits provide opportunities for the beneficiaries to improve their health and nutritional services. The emotional and social benefits include livelihood, interpersonal relationships and family happiness,” he said.
