France, Nigeria Partner to Strengthen Agric Value Chains

France has strengthened its partnership with Nigeria to boost agricultural value chains by unveiling the France-Nigeria Agribusiness Club, a platform designed to connect the French-Nigerian business community, technical experts, the French Embassy and other stakeholders to drive investment, innovation and trade in the sector.

The announcement was made on Thursday during the inaugural France-Nigeria Agribusiness Series 1 held in Lagos, where French and Nigerian officials outlined plans to deepen co-operation in agribusiness through financing, knowledge transfer, technical support and market access.

Speaking at the event, the Consul General of France in Nigeria, Laurent Favier, said the partnership would combine Nigeria’s agricultural potential with French expertise to position the country as a major agri-food hub for Africa.

Favier said, “Nigeria has the potential of becoming one of the biggest agri-food hubs. Because you have this potential, we have the expertise, and together, we can make something brighter, stronger and deeper. Today, we are announcing something stronger in agribusiness because it is going to be a gateway for businesses in both our countries.”

He added that the newly launched France-Nigeria Agribusiness Club would provide a structured platform for businesses, the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, the French Embassy, technical advisers, Business France and academic institutions to collaborate.
