Nigeria, Saudi Arabia Collaborate to Boost Food Production

The Federal Government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are collaborating to boost food production and to explore the untapped opportunities in the economic sector.

Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, and the Saudi Arabian Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Alfadley, made the commitment yesterday in Abuja.

The meeting had in attendance the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Joseph Utsev, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulrahman Abdullazaq.

Kyari explained that the endowment of Nigeria’s agricultural potential and investment opportunities if harnessed, would boost food production capable of feeding the entire nation and beyond. “It was part of a deliberate move to achieve food production and explore investment opportunities in the country, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia with a follow up meeting being held in Nigeria between the two countries to rekindle the earlier commitment,” he said. Also, Joseph Utsev, said Nigeria was happy with the partnership and willing to provide all that was needed to enhance food production in order to achieve the food security drive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
