The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, Masudur Rahman, announced that relations between Bangladesh and Nigeria have significantly strengthened in recent years.
He highlighted that bilateral trade has grown from 50 million to more than 100 million dollars. Rahman made this statement on Wednesday in Abuja at a reception marking the 54th Independence and National Day celebration of Bangladesh.
Rahman highlighted the growing interest of businesses and entrepreneurs from both countries in forming mutually beneficial partnerships.
He noted flourishing collaborations in various sectors, including ICT, agriculture, knitwear, government-to-state trade, and defense and diplomatic training through university partnerships. “Bangladesh has deep roots in Africa, especially in Nigeria. Our people share common aspirations,” Rahman said.
He also revealed plans to expand engagement in the blue economy to further deepen economic ties between the two nations.
The High Commissioner reflected on the shared values of both countries, emphasising their mutual desire for a society based on equality and inclusivity, free from exploitation.
